I have a confession to make. Last year, I had an addiction. An addiction to Bond Bond's Chocolate Croissants. It started out innocently enough... although usually I prefer savoury to sweet I found myself drawn to the chocolate croissant bin at Finnerty's. I can't blame myself - it was especially early, especially dark and I was especially tired. It was so early, that often I would hang around until the fresh, still warm, batch arrived.
These are the kind of chocolate croissant that make you feel like you'e never had one before, and you never will have one as good again. For weeks I had to talk myself down from stopping for one every morning... or just any time I walked by the cafe.
I just caved and had one again this afternoon... I wasn't going to, but there was only one left. It was clearly fate. They are totally on my list of top five things I would choose if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life... although I guess it would be a short life.
They're just so, so good. The chocolate inside is a hard chunk of real, dark chocolate. The dough isn't too sweet, in fact if anything it's every so slightly salty. It's perfectly flakey, and makes it impossible to eat without making a mess.
